Greening UNESCO video competition

Fri, 01/06/12

The staff at UNESCO are being encouraged to explore their inner film director by making short “greening” films on their cell phones and video cameras.

Staff are being asked to submit 30 second – 1 minute video clips which raise awareness of how staff can change their behaviours to make UNESCO offices ‘green’ offices.

Previous years entries have included ideas such as – promoting sustainable ways to get to work, responsible recycling of electrical equipment, what to do with your unfinished cup of tea and the importance of minimizing printing.

Ms. Amitis OSKOUI from the Section of Education for Sustainable Development explains:

The point is to get staff to show their enthusiasm and creativity for ways in which we can make our offices more environmentally friendly.

It’s simple and fun, so I think it makes for a good activity to unify a large staff on the issue of “greening”
.”

The competition runs until 8th June, when the judging process begins.   All entries will be shown at an in-house screening and the one with the most votes will win an iPad and a recycled trophy.
