PaperSmart Future wallpaper competition

Mon, 13/02/12

The UN Desktop Computer Wallpaper Design Competition was launched on 9 February. The competition, to design a wallpaper background (the picture you see behind all your desktop icons), is open to all staff of the UN Secretariat, UN agencies, funds and programmes, in field missions and duty stations.

Entries to the competition are asked to speak to the theme The Future We Want. Entries can be a photograph, cartoon, or computer generated design, but must be original work. The Future We Want is a global conversation to build the future through a positive vision for tomorrow and is a major theme of the Rio+20 Conference.

The deadline for entries is 16 March. The winning image will become the default wallpaper for desktop computers at UNHQ New York and the image will be available for downloading from www.greeningtheblue.org.

The opening of the competition marks the start of the PaperSmart Future initiative (NB THIS LINK WILL ONLY WORK FOR UN STAFF), which is a staff-led and staff-oriented campaign of awareness-raising and activities designed to echo official planning towards making the Rio+20 Conference sustainable.

The PaperSmart Future web site has more information about the competition for staff, including how to submit your entry (NB THIS LINK WILL ONLY WORK FOR UN STAFF). Alternatively please contact GreeningUNHQ [at] un.org for more information.
