The in-house greening team at the United Nations Environment Programme, known as Step-by-Step, has awarded its annual prize for the greenest UNEP office.
And this year’s winner is…. the New York office.
The New York office has achieved a total reduction of electricity use by 60% through shifting to energy efficient office equipment, installing power saving schemes at all computers, introducing low-energy light bulbs and putting timers on lights. All staff use public transport – or cycle or walk to work. In addition, staff have started to use the UNEP Green Meeting Guide. Lastly, the office has also succeeded in persuading the facility provider to improve some of the building services.
Keep up the good work, New York!
