EXECUTIVE SECRETARY'S MESSAGE

"The Ozone Secretariat is committed to leading by example and has been carbon neutral, offsetting its carbon footprint of all its operations and the annual global meeting since 2015. While we are a small entity, if we all strive for climate neutrality, this will increasingly make a difference."

Megumi Seki, Executive Secretary of the Ozone Secretariat

MISSION

The Ozone Secretariat’s mission is to facilitate and support the Parties to the Vienna Convention for the Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and other stakeholders as appropriate, in implementing actions to protect and heal the ozone layer against adverse impacts resulting from its modification, thus protecting human health and the environment, including minimizing impacts on climate.

ALIGNMENT WITH THE STRATEGY FOR SUSTAINABILITY MANAGEMENT IN THE UNITED NATIONS SYSTEM, 2020–2030

With the adoption of an Environmental Management System (EMS) in 2022, the Secretariat became one of the first Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEA) to do so. By applying the EMS, we are making further efforts to green our meetings. All unavoidable emissions as a result of Secretariat activities are fully offset annually and reported.
